BENCH CONSTRUCTION 1 REFERENCE SECTIONS To be read in conjunction with the Schedule of Finishes. 3 DESCRIPTION OF WORKS OUTLINE DESCRIPTION: The Works to be performed consist of the construction of kitchen and bar benches and bench tops, including but not limited to bar fronts and tops, display equipment and specialist joinery. Particularly note section profiles of benches. Include all areas in zones C and D. Install stone tops and high tops, wiring and services above floor Specialist cooking and kitchen equipment will be supplied and installed by a nominated subcontractor. Demolition and hoarding erection will be undertaken directly by the Pier’s contractors. Air conditioning including grilles and ceiling penetrations will be undertaken by a nominated subcontractor. Tiling will be undertaken by a nominated subcontractor. Refer to Subsections 70 and 71 for occupied premises. 8 DRAWING SCHEDULE
09 PLINTHS GENERALLY ; PLINTHS are shown as 100mm above floor. Maintain this as a minimum dimension. The extent of retiling and refalling will be determined on site dependent on the extent of existing falls and existing topping. This may require a reassessment of the overall plinth height and subsequent bench and equipment heights. In this case the mirrored skirting component will become higher. Do not proceed with bench construction until the plinth height has been finalised. Generally set all stud walls and partitions on top of plinths where appropriate. Tile all plinths. Set all counter framing on top of tiles. Set all plumbing and services into plinths where possible. 10 CONSTRUCTION REFER DETAILED DRAWINGS: Erect stainless steel frames as shown on the setout plans, on tiled plinths and tiled floors. Brace framing with diagonal struts where necessary. Horizontal rails to be rolled to suit nominated radius. Generally fix plywood under stone tops. Polish all edges of stone tops to profiles shown. Liaise with the architect as to the location of joins in stone bench work, prior to manufacture. Curve sheets of 9mm ply and screw fix directly to the frames, back trench where necessary to achieve the desired curve and radius. Ensure that joints do not occur so as to coincide with the shadowline joint of the veneer facing panel.
Fix veneered panels of type and species as indicated on the Schedule of Finishes. Back the veneers with 9mm M R board or waterproof ply and edge strip with a matching timber edge strip 3mm thick x the depth of the overall panel. Panels shall be prefinished and premade off site. Back trench the panel to achieve curves as necessary. Typically provide a shadow line of 10mm wide x the depth of the veneer panel ( not applicable to sections of the sandwich bar where the tray shelf occurs). Paint the exposed plywood at the back of the exposed shadow line with black paint, prior to fixing the veneer panel. For the surfaces in the undercounter area provide melamine finish board or painted sealed surfaces acceptable to the Council Health Dept. Generally fix veneered panels to the backing ply and framing with the cast steel studs of individual specified finishes. The studs are available with their own threaded rods. High top support brackets and tray rail support brackets are to match the finish of the adjoining cast metal studs. The Waxed Rust finish is available locally from Mick Porter. The Sheridised Patina is achievable by sand blasting and lacquer. SUBMIT SAMPLES. BISTRO 1 AREA COUNTERS; Roll the clear anodised aluminium angle and flat so as to achieve a uniform curve. Fix the angle to the ply backing with countersunk screws and glue so as not to affect the mirror stainless steel on top. Glue the mirrored stainless steel and neatly butt joint. MIRRORED SKIRTING; Glue the mirrored stainless steel to plywood backing. The plywood may be insitu form work or faced over the plinth, or both if thinner veneers are used. No exposed fixings. BISTRO 2 GLASS HIGH TOP; The glass high tops where shown on the drawings ( at the Tapas Bar) shall be bevelled 10mm laminated Evergreen with sandblasted ( or sandmask film) back.
BISTRO 2 BACK COUNTER & DESSERTS AREA BACK COUNTER ; Supply and fit undercounter fridge units where shown. Where no fridge units are shown on the plan, provide matching stainless steel doors and cupboards behind, all mounted on a plinth. 11 Counter top finishes

DECORATIVE METAL INVERTED HALF CONES; At ends of servery counters where shown on the drawings fabricate and install inverted half cones with concealed fixings. Metal : Rimex ,9EH, BA . Fix the inverted cones onto the timber veneered return face of each counter end. Provide a steel support bracket inside the inverted cone to support the cantilevered stone top. Also refer to counter elevations for decorative stainless steel fronts.
